Summary
The Institut für Kältetechnik und Angewandte Wärmetechnik is researching procedures for retrofitting existing R12 plants to R134a, including three in particular: cleaning of the plant with new ester oil and R12, cleaning with new ester oil and R134a, and cleaning with a solvent. The research program is funded by the German Environmental Foundation and various companies, and was due for completion in March 1994.
