Summary

DURING THE YEARS 1983-1985 THE DUTCH AUCTIONS, WHICH ARE SPECIALIZED IN VEGETABLES, INVESTED IN NEW COOLING EQUIPMENT FOR MORE THAN 10,000 TONS OF PRODUCT. THE COOLING ROOMS ARE EQUIPPED TO REALIZE SHORT COOLING PERIODS. HEAT EXCHANGERS ARE INSTALLED WITH A LOW DRYING POTENTIAL SUCH AS EVAPORATORS WITH AN EXTREMELY LARGE SURFACE AREA AND MORE NUMEROUS, HEAT EXCHANGERS OF THE COLD WATER-AIR TYPE. WITH A COMPUTER SIMULATION ONE CAN CALCULATE, THAT THE CHOICE OF HEAT EXCHANGERS, EVEN IN PRECOOL INSTALLATIONS, HAS MORE INFLUENCE ON DIMINISHING WATER LOSS FROM THE PRODUCT, THAN THE OTHER POSSIBLE METHOD.
