THIS PROGRESS APPEARS IN A TABLE COMPARING THE TONNAGES OF FROZEN POTATOES, FRIED OR NOT, CONSUMED IN THE FRG BETWEEN 1976 AND 1980, IE, RESPECTIVELY 47,782 T AND 79,025 T OF A TOTAL TONNAGE OF 126,807 T AND 129,007 T AND 115,881 T OF A TOTAL OF 244,888 T. THE INCREASE IN THE TONNAGE OF FRIED POTATOES DURING THE FIRST NINE MONTHS OF 1981 REACHED A PERCENTAGE OF 19.5%, WHEREAS THAT OF UNFRIED POTATOES DECREASED BY 26%. THE CONSUMPTION PERCENTAGES OF THE FORMER INCREASED BETWEEN 1977 AND 1980 FROM 35.4 TO 44.9% IN HOUSEHOLDS AND FROM 64.6 AND 55.1% IN INSTITUTIONS. THE CONSUMPTION PERCENTAGES OF FROZEN FRIED POTATOES IN NORTHERN, WESTERN AND SOUTH-WESTERN GERMANY AND BAVARIA, AND IMPORTED TONNAGES IN 1978, 1979 AND 1980 ARE ALSO COMPARED. A THIRD TABLE GIVES THE SURFACE AREAS WHERE VARIOUS POTATO VARIETIES TO BE FRIED AND FROZEN ARE GROWN. G.G.
