Summary
Experimental results show that the behaviour of propane does not match theoretical prediction. Propane can constitute a useful alternative to R12 in systems with low refrigerant charge and is highly suitable where immediate replacement is required. The temperatures achieved in the cold chamber or freezer using propane are very similar to those achieved using R12.
