Pure hydrocarbons as refrigerants in household refrigerators.

Summary
R134a has clear energy shortcomings compared with R12, especially in the small compressors of household refrigerators. Tests on hermetically sealed compressors, and on a household refrigerator revealed the energy advantages of a mixture of hydrocarbons. It was possible to transfer the energy improvements to the refrigerator without changing the heat exchange surface. L.P.
