Summary

Describes an experimental laboratory investigation to determine the differences in flow and particle concentration with introduction of supply air into a Class 10,000 clean room by turbulent flow via swirl diffusers or by low turbulence flow via laminar diffusers. Illustrates in diagrams the flow characteristics with the different types of diffuser and gives findings of air speed, temperatures and particle concentrations at different locations in the room beneath both types of diffuser. Discusses the findings and gives reasons for preferring swirl diffusers for these classes of clean room as regards air flow and particle concentration.
