Summary

IN 35 QUICK-FROZEN SAMPLES OF PLEURONECTES (PLAICE) A POWER CORRELATION HAS BEEN FOUND BETWEEN THE CHLORIDES IN THAW DRIP AND THE PERCENTAGE WEIGHT REDUCTION. A SIMPLE MODEL PREDICTS AN INVERSE PROPORTIONALITY BETWEEN THESE TWO VARIABLES, WHICH IS CONFIRMED BY STATISTICAL ANALYSIS. THIS METHOD MAY BE USEFUL FOR THE QUALITY CONTROL OF FISHERY PRODUCTS WITH RESPECT TO FREEZING AND PRESERVING TECHNIQUES.
