Summary
Small, medium and large sized sugarbeets were packed with or without PVC and stored for up to 22 days at ambient temperature (15-26 °C). Packing with PVC (polyvinyl chloride) markedly decreased weight loss. After 14 days storage, the unpacked beets had withered and were deemed unsuitable for selling. Beets packed with PVC maintained good appearance during the 22 days storage and experienced a fresh weight loss of 15.82% compared with 55% in the exposed beets.
