R22 alternative refrigerants: performance in unitary equipment.

Author(s) : SPATZ M. W., ZHENG J.

Summary

Two HFC refrigerants were tested, along with R22, in a typical three-ton air-to-air heat pump: an azeotropic mixture of R32-R125 (60-40%) and a zeotropic blend of R32-R125-R134a (30-10-60%). The results showed that R32-R125 was 8 to 9% more efficient, and that the ternary blend was 1 to 2% less efficient, than R22.
