R718 heat pumps.

Author(s) : ALBRING P., HEINRICH G.

Summary

Although the volumetric refrigeration capacity of water-R718 is much more dependent on the evaporation temperature than that of HFC or R718 heat pumps, potentially higher performance applications are now emerging for water as a refrigerant. Figure 1 shows a user orientated large-scale testing plant at the Institut für Luft- und Kältetechnik Dresden. All functional groups are arranged in series and hermetically sealed in sections. From the evaporation section, the vacuum water vapour is taken in by the radial flow compressor through a suction pipe in the core of the condenser section and compressed and returned to the condenser through the diffusers. The drive motor is also hermetically sealed as can be seen in figure 2.
