Summary

A COMPREHENSIVE REVIEW OF RECENT DEVELOPMENTS IN RESEARCH ON WATER-FREEZING AND ICE-MELTING PROBLEMS WAS PERFORMED. AREAS CONSIDERED WERE: ANALYTICAL AND NUMERICAL METHODS IN FREEZING AND MELTING, FREEZING OF WATER WITHOUT MAIN FLOW, FREEZING OF WATER WITH MAIN FLOW, FREEZING OF LAKES AND RIVERS, FREEZING OF SEA WATER, ATMOSPHERIC ICING AND SEA ICING, AND THE VARIOUS WAYS OF MELTING ICE. AN ATTEMPT WAS ALSO MADE TO REVIEW THE THERMOPHYSICAL PROPERTIES OF PURE ICE AND SEA ICE.
