Type of article: Article

Summary

AS THE LOWERING OF TEMPERATURE OF FREEZING SEAWATER CAUSES THE FORMATION OF AN INCREASING ICE AMOUNT, THE SALT/LIQUID BRINE RATIO INCREASES. THE AUTHORS DRAWS UP AN EQUATION BETWEEN THIS RATIO AND TEMPERATURE AND BETWEEN TEMPERATURE AND ENTHALPY. THE DERIVATIVE OF THIS EQUATION GIVES SPECIFIC HEAT IN TERMS OF TEMPERATURE. IT SHOULD BE NOTED THAT DURING SEAWATER FREEZING THESE VALUES ARE MUCH HIGHER THAN THOSE FOUND IN THE LITERATURE.
