Summary

THE WORK PRESENTED IN THIS PAPER SHOWS THAT R141B CAN BE RECOVERED USING CARBON ADSORPTION. THE ADSORPTIVE CAPACITY OF CALGON XTRUSORB 600 FOR R141B IS TYPICALLY 6.0-11.0 % ON A GRAM OF ADSORBATE TO GRAM OF ADSORBENT BASIS. THIS CAPACITY IS SLIGHTLY LOWER THAN THAT FOR R113, WHICH IS TYPICALLY 7-15 %. IT IS EXPECTED THAT BY OPTIMIZING THE ADSORPTION/DESORPTION PARAMETERS, THE CAPACITYFOR R141B CAN BE IMPROVED. FUTURE WORK WILL COMPRISE INVESTIGATION OF INFLUENCE OF TEMPERATURE, SYSTEM FLOW RATE, SIZE OF GRANULAR ACTIVATED CARBON ON ADSORPTION ; TIME NEEDED FOR DESORPTION AND VAPOUR PRESSURE WILL BE ALSO STUDIED, FOR DESORPTION MODE.
