IIR document
Refrigerant-oil solubility and its effects on system performance.
Author(s) : HEWITT N. J., MCMULLAN J. T.
Summary
In general, the presence of compressor lubricants circulating within a refrigeration system has a detrimental effect on performance. This is caused by the solubility of the refrigerant in the oil, thus makiing the refrigerant unavailable for heat transfer in the evaporator. Results are presented for R12, R22, R134a, and R407C with mineral and polyolester oils under complete and partial miscibility conditions.
