French experts of the CEN/TC44 note the different stages of development, exchange and negotiation that led to these standards, which are essential to commercial refrigeration in Europe. A comparison with international (ISO) standards is presented. The authors conclude with a discussion of the use that should be made of this tool, which helps to perfect the concept of cold chain that is so important in France.
