Summary
IT IS WELL-KNOWN THAT MACHINES POWERED DIRECTLY BY HEAT, SUCH AS ABSORPTION MACHINES HAVE LOWER COP THAN EG COMPRESSION REFRIGERATING MACHINES, EVEN IF THE COP IS BASED ON EQUAL AMOUNTS OF PRIMARY ENERGY. THE CONCLUSION IS COMPLETELY DIFFERENT, HOWEVER, IF THE ABSORPTION MACHINE IS POWERED BY HEAT SOURCES HAVING THE RELATIVELY LOW TEMPERATURE LEVEL REQUIRED. THE COP VALUES OF FIVE DIFFERENT CONFIGURATIONS WERE CALCULATED EACH FOR THREE CONDITIONS OF OPERATION IN ORDER TO SUPPORT THIS CONCLUSION.
