WITH INCOME FALLING FROM TRADITIONAL PRODUCTIONS (COCOA, COFFEE, WOOD, ETC) AND FROM THE EXPLOITATIONS OF MINERAL RESOURCES (ESPECIALLY PETROLEUM), AND WITH THE WEIGHT OF THE DEBT BURDENING THEIR ECONOMIES, DEVELOPING COUNTRIES ARE BEING LED TODEVELOP NEW ACTIVITIES. THESE COUNTRIES ARE ALSO FACED WITH HUNGER AND MALNUTRITION, AMONG OTHER SERIOUS PROBLEMS. REFRIGERATION CAN HELP IMPROVE FOOD RESOURCES. THE QUESTION TO BE ANSWERED BY DEVELOPING COUNTRIES, AND WHICH THE AUTHOR EXAMINES ARE: CAN REFRIGERATING EQUIPMENT BE SUPPORTED ECONOMICALLY ? IF YES, WHAT ARE THE FINANCIAL, TECHNICAL AND SOCIAL OBSTACLES THAT MUST BE OVERCOME.
