Summary

The IIR wished to contribute to the World Summit in Johannesburg (September 2002) by preparing, upon UNEP's request, a report on the achievements and challenges of the refrigeration sector within the framework of sustainable development. This 78-page report, illustrated with numerous figures and diagrams, was prepared thanks to the co-operation of 32 IIR experts and several national or international organizations, from all 5 continents. Main topics: - The 3 dimensions of sustainable development: social, economic and environmental dimensions - Implementation means: strategies, achievements and limits - Challenges. An extended summary (6 pages), in English and in French, is available as a thematic file on the IIR Web site.
