Research on the performance of the CO2 screw compressor in the NH3/CO2 cascade refrigeration system.

Author(s) : LI J., WANG B., WU H., et al.

Summary

The NH3/CO2 cascade refrigeration system has been used widely in the low temperature applications in recent years, by virtue of its very good coefficient of performance (COP) and the natural refrigerants ammonia (NH3) and carbon dioxide (CO2). The twin screw refrigeration compressor with the carbon dioxide refrigerant acts a key role in the CO2 cycle within the cascade refrigeration system, and the performance of the CO2 twin screw compressor can affect the COP of the system greatly. So, the performance of the CO2 twin screw compressor has been investigated by the experiment in this paper. The isentropic efficiency, volumetric efficiency, power consumption and refrigerating capacity of the twin screw compressor have been measured under various working conditions in the NH3/CO2 cascade refrigeration system. The test result is very helpful for improving the design of the twin screw compressor and the performance of the NH3/CO2 cascade refrigeration system.
