Summary

The exploration of low GWP refrigerants to replace commonly used high GWP HFCs is vital in tackling global warming. Therein the new low GWP refrigerant HFO1132(E) (trans-1,2-difluoroethylene; C2H2F2) holds great potential in transitioning domestic heat pumps and the HVAC&R industry to a more climate-friendly one. The saturation pressures of HFO1132(E) were measured for the temperature range between 240 K and 300 K using a low-temperature isochoric apparatus and from 300 K to the critical temperature using a high-temperature isochoric apparatus. The high-temperature apparatus is also utilized to directly measure the critical pressure at the critical temperature by charging the sample at the critical density. The experimental data were fitted using the Wagner-type equation for representing the saturation pressure curve of HFO1132(E) with an absolute average deviation of 0.02%. The acentric factor of HFO1132(E) was also determined.
