Scaling factors for compressor ratings tables.

Summary

The introduction of HFC refrigerants to replace R502 and R22 have required engineers to re-evaluate system design and understand the consequences of using different refrigerant alternatives. One part of the evaluation is understanding the difference between calorimeter results and the operation of real systems. The paper presents a simple method for computing scaling factors which can be used as multipliers to correct calorimetry ratings to more realistically reflect evaporator capacities which could be expected from systems in actual use. The principle behind these scaling factors is identical to that encoded in the compressor selection software offered by compressor manufacturers.
