Sea transport policy and the competitiveness of African bananas.
Politique de transport maritime et compétitivité de la banane africaine.
Author(s) : RIZET C.
Type of article: Article
Summary
The price of transporting African bananas, from the plantations to their exit from a European port, was assessed in terms of their competitiveness on the European market. The reduction in transport costs observed can largely be explained by a better logistical organization and by a drop in the price of production factors: chartering vessels and fuel.
