SELECTION OF CRYOPROTECTANT FOR THYROID CRYOPRESERVATION.

Author(s) : GAO F., ZHANG Z.

Summary

THE PROTECTIVE EFFECTS OF 2 M ETHYLENE GLYCOL FOR HUMAN THYROID TISSUES WERE FOUND TO BE BETTER THAN DMSO, GLYCEROL AND POLYVINYLPYRROLIDONE AT THE OPTIMAL CONCENTRATIONS. ALTHOUGH DMSO IS CONSIDERED A VALUABLE CRYOPROTECTANT IN PRACTICE, IT IS WORTH POPULARIZING ETHYLENE GLYCOL. GLYCEROL WAS THE FIRST CRYOPROTECTANT DISCOVERED AND IT HAS BEEN WIDELY USED UP TO NOW. IN THE EXPERIMENT, THE VIABILITY OF TISSUES WAS INCREASED WITH THE CONCENTRATION OF GLYCEROL UP TO 4 M. IT IS NECESSARY TO DO FURTHER RESEARCH ON WHICH CONCENTRATION OF GLYCEROL IS THE OPTIMAL FOR CRYOPRESERVATION HUMAN THYROID TISSUES.
