Simplified modelling of an open-type reciprocating compressor using refrigerants R22 and R410A. 1. Experimental analysis.

Author(s) : HANNAY C., LEBRUN J., NEGOIU D., et al.

Summary

A rather simple model can be accurate enough to explain the behaviour of a refrigeration compressor when supplied with different refrigerants. The demonstration is done with an open reciprocating compressor supplied with R22 and R410A. The first part of this paper presents the tests carried out to obtain the compressor performances with the two refrigerants. The tests allowed to define the characteristic points of the running cycle, the refrigerant mass flow rate and the corresponding power consumed by the compressor. A substantial decrease of the volumetric and isentropic efficiency when passing from R410A to R22 was observed.
