COMPUTER SIMULATION OF A RECIPROCATING COMPRESSOR WORKING WITH NON-AZEOTROPIC REFRIGERANT MIXTURES.

Author(s) : QUAST U., KRUSE H.

Summary

BESIDES THE HEAT EXCHANGERS THE COMPRESSOR IS RESPONSIBLE FOR MOST OF THE LOSSES OCCURRING IN A REFRIGERANT CYCLE. FOR THIS REASON IT IS NECESSARY TO GET KNOWLEDGE OF THE COMPRESSOR PERFORMANCE WHEN WORKING WITH NON-AZEOTROPIC REFRIGERANT MIXTURES. SINCE IT ISNOT POSSIBLE TO RUN COMPRESSOR TESTS IN A LABORATORY FOR ALL REFRIGERANT MIXTURES A COMPRESSOR SIMULATION PROGRAM HAS BEEN DEVELOPED. THE THERMODYNAMIC AND MATHEMATICAL FUNDAMENTALS OF THE PROGRAM ARE PRESENTED. THE SIMULATION RESULTS TAKE THE REAL GAS BEHAVIOUR OF REFRIGERANT MIXTURES INTO ACCOUNT BY USING THE REDLICH-KWONG-SOAVE EQUATION OF STATE. THE DIAGRAMS OF THE CALCULATED COMPRESSOR PERFORMANCE WITH DIFFERENT MIXTURES AND A COMPARISON BETWEEN CALCULATION AND MEASUREMENT ARE ILLUSTRATED AND DISCUSSED.
