Summary
How to achieve energy-saving operation for the air conditioning system and reduce the equipment first cost is a scabrous problem for theatres thanks to its large and high space, numerous seats, demanding indoor fitment and complex indoor thermal environment. This paper analyzes and optimizes the air conditioning system in one practical theatre by CFD software. Simulation models are built basing on the design of the theatre's architectural sketch and air conditioning systems. Five proper operating modes for air conditioning are proposed. Then, the stratified air conditioning scheme of blowing from seat is simulated by CFD, and data and graphs of temperature field, wind velocity field, PMV, PPD and air age are gained. Paralleling with these 5 operating modes, the best one is selected, and adverse factors are found out. Besides, amendatory suggestions are put forward in order to improve the cooling and heating effect of air conditioning systems. Firstly, heat of transfer by convection from the stage should be fully taken into account; secondly, the distribution of air temperature and velocity can be more even if there are as many air inlets and outlets back of the theater as possible. The method of optimizing the air conditioning system design by CFD technique, which perfects the traditional method of index design, will be popularized to a large extent in the energy saving design of HVAC.
