Simulation of a thermoacoustically-driven pulse tube refrigerator.

Author(s) : HUANG Z. J., KE T., JIN T., et al.

Summary

The matching between a thermoacoustic engine and a pulse tube refrigerator (PTR) is of great importance for the performance of a thermoacoustically driven refrigeration system. A simulation of a PTR driven by standing-wave thermoacoustic engine was performed with simple harmonic analysis. According to the simulation, the coupling operation of thermoacoustic engine and PTR's regenerator is described. The important matching parameters, such as acoustic power, pressure ratio and operating frequency, are discussed. In addition, the optimized dimension of regenerator for matching a standing-wave thermoacoustic engine is computed and presented.
