Summary
This article introduces the authors' recent research work on a 300 Hz thermo-acoustically-driven pulse tube cooler. A lowest no-load temperature reaches 79.6 K with the mean pressure and the inlet pressure ratio being 3.96 and 1.21 MPa, respectively. Modifications, which include the value of Nusselt number and the numerical model of calculating the impendence of the inertance tube, are done to improve the numerical program based on the linear thermoacoustic model. Extensive numerical calculations have been done for comparison with experimental results. Dynamic and thermal characteristics of the pulse tube cooler are obtained numerically. By doing this, the authors intend to improve the numerical model for better design in the future.
