SIMULATION OF THE FILM FLOW ON A HORIZONTAL TUBE FEEDED BY FALLING DROPLETS.

Summary

IN ABSORPTION HEAT PUMPS WITH A HORIZONTAL TUBE ROW FALLING FILM ABSORBER, DROPLET FLOW BETWEEN THE TUBES APPEARS TO ENHANCE HEAT AND MASS TRANSFER. A HYDRODYNAMICAL MODEL IS DEVELOPED. THE MODEL IS SPLIT UP IN 2 PARTS: THE FIRST PART DESCRIBES THE MOMENTUM DRIVEN DROPLET SPREADING OUT AND THE SECOND PART THE GRAVITY DOMINATED FLOW. THE MODEL IS BASED ON THE INTEGRAL FORM OF THE BOUNDARY LAYER EQUATIONS. THE RESULTING ORDINARY DIFFERENTIAL EQUATIONS ARE SOLVED WITH A FOURTH ORDER RUNGE-KUTTA METHOD. GOOD COMPARISON WITH EXPERIMENTAL RESULTS FROM HIGH SPEED CAMERA OBSERVATIONS IS FOUND.
