COUPLED HEAT AND MASS TRANSFER ON HORIZONTAL TUBES FEEDED BY FALLING DROPLETS.

Summary

ABSORPTION CYCLES CAN FORM A CONSIDERABLE MEANS OF ENERGY SAVING. TWO KINDS OF ABSORBERS (OR DESORBERS) ARE APPLIED: FALLING FILM AND BUBBLE ABSORBERS. IN A HORIZONTAL TUBE ROW FALLING FILM ABSORBER DROPLET FLOW BETWEEN THE TUBES ENHANCES HEAT AND MASS TRANSFER. A SIMPLE MODEL IS DEVELOPED TO DESCRIBE THE COUPLED HEAT AND MASS TRANSFER IN THIS ABSORBER, STARTING FROM STATIONARY UNIFORM FILM FLOW. TWO EXPERIMENTALLY DETERMINED FITTING PARAMETERS DESCRIBE THE DEVIATION FROM THIS SIMPLE FLOW REGIME. THE PARAMETERS FIND A FUNDAMENTAL BASIS IN A HYDRODYNAMIC MODEL FOR DROPLETWISE FEEDED FILM FLOW.
