Small diameter effects on refrigerant charge in low power refrigerating units.
Author(s) : VLASIE C., MACCHI H., JABBOUR O.
Summary
The paper provides a two-phase flow model predicting refrigerant charge of a small-channel evaporator. Comparisons between refrigerant charge predictions are made for evaporators with four different sizes of channels. The choice of void fraction correlations is found to have a major effect on refrigerant charge. Three mass-flux-dependent void fraction correlations are proposed and compared. Lastly, possible influence of the refrigerant charge reduction on the direct greenhouse effect is discussed.
