Solar cooling activities in Jordan.
Author(s) : HAMMAD M.
Summary
A survey is presented for the activities and accomplishments in the field of solar energy for cooling purposes in Jordan in the last decade. The survey shows that these activities consolidated in the efforts of both the Royal Scientific Society (RSS), renewable energy department and the University of Jordan, Mechanical Engineering Department (MED). The RSS activities concentrated on photovoltaic electrical generation method, electrical output was used to drive vaccine and drug refrigerator in medical centers and clinics in isolated villages in the southern Jordan. The MED concentrated on absorption refrigeration units powered by solar energy collected by a flat plate water collector. Both activities revealed valuable results.
