Solar cooling processes using chemical reactions.

Summary

Properly designed solar cooling and air-conditioning systems using chemical reactions can become economically attractive thanks to improvements in reaction velocity and stability. They do not require supplemental electric energy and water cooling. Different salts, reacting with ammonia and combined with systems specifically adapted to the environmental conditions are conceivable with high COPs. Test results with a prototype of a solar-powered cooling unit are showing good economic chances for chemical reactions to be used in combination with solar energy.
