Summary

THE PLASTIC PROPERTIES OF PARAHYDROGEN SINGLE CRYSTALS ARE STUDIED AT HELIUM TEMPERATURES. IT IS FOUND THAT THE PARA-HYDROGEN CRYSTAL PLASTICITY INCREASES SHARPLY AS TEMPERATURE FALLS DOWN 1.8-2 K. THE PHENOMENON OF FLOWING UNDER GRAVITY HAS BEEN REVEALED IN QUITE PERFECT PARAHYDROGEN CRYSTALS. THE IMPORTANCE OF VACANCY MECHANISMS TO THE PLASTIC DEFORMATION PROCESSES IS DISCUSSED.
