Summary

The book includes the papers presented during the symposium on "Solid sorption refrigeration" which was held in Paris, France, in November 1992, and which was sponsored by the IIR. Thirteen papers were presented on the theme "Adsorption", among which: residential space conditioning with solid sorption technology; gas-fired sorption heat pump development; silica gel-water adsorption-cooling system, etc. Five papers were presented on the topic "Chemical reaction" and four on the theme "Metal hydrides". Among the eight papers on "Heat and mass transfer", we note the following: heat transfer intensification in fixed bed adsorbers; advances on innovative heat exchangers in adsorption heat pumps, etc. Finally, five papers were presented on "Desiccant cooling and solar cooling", among which: in situ, experimental study of three adsorptive ice makers; solar cooling processes using chemical reactions, etc. The proceedings are available at the IIR.
