Summary

THE SPECIFIC HEAT OF A MIXED NICKEL AND COBALT CHLORIDE IS INVESTIGATED AT CONCENTRATIONS X VARYING BETWEEN 0 AND 1 AND AT TEMPERATURES BETWEEN 2 AND 28 K. THE RESULTS ARE COMPARED WITH THE PREDICTIONS OF THE SPIN WAVE THEORY FOR LAYERED ANTIFERROMAGNETS WITH ANISOTROPY OF THE < EASY PLANE > TYPE. THE SPECIAL FEATURES OF THE TEMPERATURE DEPENDENCE OF THE MAGNETIC SPECIFIC HEAT OF THIS COMPOUND CAN BE ASCRIBED TO VARIATION OF THE EFFECTIVE CONSTANTS OF THEIR MAGNETIC SPECTRA AND OF THE MAGNITUDE OF THE ZONE BOUNDARY WITH RESPECT TO KZ.
