Summary

AUTOMATIC FIRE EXTINCTION SPRINKLER SYSTEMS HAVE PROVED THEIR EFFICIENCY IN COLD STORES. SYSTEM FEATURES ARE FLAME DETECTION USING A FUSIBLE LINK OR A RUPTURE BULB, IMMEDIATE FIREFIGHTING ACTION AT THE SEAT OF THE FIRE AND AN AUTOMATIC ALARM SYSTEM. SOME PRECAUTIONS ARE NECESSARY: DRY PIPE SYSTEMS WHERE THE PIPING CONTAINS ONLY AIR UNDER PRESSURE ; DELUGE SYSTEMS WITH THE CONTROL UNIT OUTSIDE THE LOW TEMPERATURE ZONE ; WET SYSTEMS WHERE THE WATER CONTAINS ANTI-FREEZE ADDITIVES.
