Statistical panorama: refrigeration.

Type of article: Article

Summary

1992 figures for the USA show an increase of 8.3% in commercial refrigeration equipment supplied. Self-surface cases were among the most popular with only narrow-island, ice-cream cases and single-deck, frozen-food cases showing a decline. Some of the increase may be due to customers changing to CFC-free substitutes. An expanding housing market should maintain an increase in home refrigerators. For home freezers, chest types appear to be most popular, with a 26.5% increase as against 10.7% for uprights. Unit cooler sales have also increased. Only ice-makers appear to be at about the 1991 level. A small increase in restaurant activity should result in increased sales in that area. D.W.H.
