Summary

Litchi cv. Bombai fruits were treated with different aqueous solutions and then stored under ambient conditions (30 deg C, 81% relative humidity). Other fruits received no chemical treatment and were stored at 0 or 4 deg C under polyethylene film. Organoleptic properties, physiological weight loss and total soluble sugar content were estimated at 2-day intervals and statistically analysed for 2 years' pooled data (1993 and 1994). Fruits in cold storage had lower physiological weight loss and longer storage life than growth regulator-treated fruits and untreated, control fruits. Organoleptic ratings of fruits decreased during storage with all treatments.
