THE STORAGE OF EUROPEAN PLUMS CV SAGIV AND JAPANESE PLUMS CVS RED ROSA AND GOLDEN KING UNDER CONTROLLED ATMOSPHERE ENABLES THE FRUIT TO BE STORED FOR RELATIVELY LONG PERIODS. CONTROLLED ATMOSPHERES PREVENT THEDEVELOPMENT OF BROWNINGNEAR THE PIT AND BREAKDOWN OF THE FLESH THAT DEVELOPS EARLY WHEN STORED UNDER REGULAR STORAGE. THE SUCCESS OF STORAGE OF PLUMS UNDER CONTROLLED ATMOSPHERES IS DEPENDENT ON CORRECT PICKING TIME, RAPID REDUCTION OF FLESH TEMPERATURE AND RAPID LOWERING OF OXYGEN LEVEL IN THE STORAGE ROOM. THE USE OF POLYETHYLENE IS IMPERATIVE.
