Summary

THE REPORT DESCRIBES A NEW SYSTEM OF ICE STORAGE WITH DIRECT UNLOADING BY THE CIRCULATING REFRIGERANT. SINCE THE SPACE FOR INSTALLATION ON BOARD A CAR IS SMALL, A SPECIAL ICE STORAGE SYSTEM FOR AIR CONDITIONING PLANTS HAS BEEN DEVELOPED. WHILE USING THECONVENTIONAL AIR CONDITIONING SYSTEM, THE COOLING CAPACITY OF MELTING ICE IS GIVEN TO THE EVAPORATOR WHICH COOLS THE AIR INSIDE THE CAR. WITH THIS SYSTEM IT IS POSSIBLE TO COOL THE CAR FOR A DEFINITE PERIOD WITHOUT THE COMPRESSOR AND CAR ENGINE RUNNING. THERMODYNAMIC RELATIONS ARE DISCUSSED. THE DESIGN OF THE PLANT IS DESCRIBED AND TEST RESULTS ARE PRESENTED.
