Summary

Effects of stripped (alpha-tocopherol reduced) plant oils (maize, soyabean, groundnut, cottonseed, and linseed) on ethylene, fruit firmness, colour, titratable acidity (TA), and soluble solids content (SSC) were evaluated in Golden Delicious apples after 6 months and Bartlett pears after 6 weeks storage at 0 °C. Oil treated fruits showed better firmness, colour and titratable acid content. The action of propylene treatment on oil-treated or non-treated fruits was investigated.
