Summary
A three-stage compression refrigeration cycle using water was developed in the light of the characteristics of water as refrigerant. The COP, discharge temperature and the suction volume ratio of the cycle were calculated and analysed. The results show that the COP of the water refrigeration cycle is higher than that of the halocarbon refrigerants (for example, R22 and R134a). In the medium- and high-temperature heat pump area, water is the most competitive working fluid due to the higher discharge temperature of the system.
