Summary

The paper presents the accomplishments over a 16-year period and the characteristics of thermal energy storage in a thermal energy storage well. The conclusions show the following: 1) In recent years, the thermal recovery factor of warm energy storage well has become almost constant at about 60%; 2) the thermal recovery factor of the cool energy storage well has increased gradually and become about 15%; 3) since the ferric colloidal dam is formed in aquifer, the thermal recovery factor increases year after year; 4) the back wash can remove clogging from the ferric colloidal dam; 5) the apparent thermal diffusity decreases gradually due to the ferric colloidal dam.
