Summary

The immunization campaign for Covid-19 requires the use of a cold chain at very low temperatures. Some of the vaccines must be transported and stored between -60 and -90°C.
Dry ice is used to transport vaccines at those temperatures. Dry ice sublimates at -78.5 °C, at normal pressure conditions. The performance of this cold chain is tracked by recording the temperatures throughout the transport. However, temperatures even lover than -90 °C have been recorded during transport refrigerated by dry ice.
The aim of this study is to explain those temperature recorded variations by a data logger in an apparently stable environment.
Our initial hypothesis was pressure variation: thus we needed to identify what could possibly cause these pressure variations and reproduce it.
