Summary

A set of boundary layer equations (continuity, momentum, energy and diffusion equations) is solved numerically with a thermodynamic equilibrium between temperature and concentration of water vapour, with frost deposits on a vertical plate under natural convection. The effects of frost surface temperature and ambient air conditions (temperature and humidity) on the coefficients of heat and mass transfers were investigated. When the thermodynamic equilibrium is satisfied, the coefficient of mass transfer is lower and the coefficient of heat transfer is higher.
