SUBSTITUTES FOR CFC SYSTEMS: SOLID SORPTION.

Author(s) : MEUNIER F.

Summary

SORPTION REFRIGERATION SYSTEMS INCLUDE: UNIFORM TEMPERATURE FIXED BED SYSTEMS ; THERMAL WAVE FIXED BED SYSTEMS ; CONTINUOUS MOVING BED CYCLES WHICH SEEM PROMISING ALTHOUGH DETAILED BALANCE ARE NOT AVAILABLE AT THE MOMENT ; AND HYBRID CYCLES WHICH COULD BE DESIGNED TO GET HIGH TEMPERATURE LIF EFFICIENCIES AND TEMPERATURE LIFTS ACHIEVABLE ARE DISCUSSED. ADSORPTION CYCLES (ZEOLITE-WATER OR ACTIVATED CARBON-METHANOL) COVER THE TEMPERATURE RANGE WELL BETWEEN 258 AND 278 K (-15 AND 5 DEG C) ; WITH AMMONIA IT WOULD BE POSSIBLE TO WIDEN THIS RANGE TOWARDS LOW TEMPERATURES. CHEMICAL SYSTEMS (AMMONIA AND METAL HYDRIDES) WIDEN THE RANGE TOWARDS LOW TEMPERATURES.
