Summary

THE FUNCTIONS OF THE COMPRESSOR, EVAPORATOR AND EXPANSION VALVE MUST BE CLOSELY CONTROLLED IN ORDER TO ENSURE MAXIMUM REFRIGERATION SYSTEM EFFICIENCY AND MINIMUM ENERGY CONSUMP THE ARTICLE DESCRIBES PERFORMANCE TESTS ON A SYSTEM FITTED WITH AN AUTOMATIC ELECTRONIC EXPANSION VALVE WHICH IS CLAIMED TO PROVIDE BOTH ACCURATE AND FLEXIBLE SYSTEM OPERATION, VIZ THE TEMPERATURE DIFFERENCE ACROSS THE EVAPORATOR CAN BE ADJUSTED FROM 2 TO 18 K (2 TO 18 DEG C), THE EVAPORATION TEMPERATURE (WITH AN R22 SYSTEM) FROM 283 TO 203 K (10 TO -70 DEG C) AND THE VALVE CONTROL CHARACTERISTICS CAN BE SET FROM BETWEEN 10 TO 100%.
