Summary

Sales of commercial refrigerating and air-conditioning equipment in the USA appear to be promising. A number of large supermarket projects have been started and there has been an increase in house building. The latter may be halted by recent rises in interest rates. HFCs are becoming more acceptable, especially R134a as a substitute for R12 and R404A and R507 which can replace R502. Both the latter are HFCs and are about 5% more efficient than R22 at medium temperatures and perhaps 10% better at low temperatures. D.W.H.
