Supermarket deep-freeze using CO2 coolant.
Author(s) : REINER G., WIETLISBACH K.
Type of article: Article
Summary
A new approach to supermarket deep-freezing has been demonstrated in a Swiss pilot plant using CO2 as secondary refrigerant. A highlight of the new technique is the retention of the conventional pressure limit of 2.5 megapascals, permitting commercially available components to be used. Tests on the pilot plant over a period of several months have demonstrated the simple and safe cooling and defrosting properties of the method, its high energy efficiency, and its excellent performance at standstill and renewed start-up.
